Obesity, adipokines and their relationship with insulin resistance

چکیده
Obesity is one of the main health problems worldwide. It a disease that associated with excessive food consumption, although it also process chronic inflammation and group disorders known as metabolic syndrome. Some most distinctive characteristics obesity are individual's adipocytes hypertrophied, have an irregular adipokine secretion profile, increased recruitment inflammatory cells, altered homeostasis; which eventually results in development various important pathologies or conditions, such insulin resistance mitochondrial dysfunction. This review aims to present current knowledge on adipose tissue obesity.

O-3: Obesity, Insulin Resistance and Their Correlation with Testosterone Levels in Male Patients
Background: Obesity and insulin resistance refer to a clustering of various medical conditions, with a number of pathological components that contribute to the development of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Some studies have shown that free testosterone levels are low in obese men and are inversely correlated with the degree of obesity. In addition, leptin levels increases with obesity tha...

Obesity is associated with an array of health problems in adult and pediatric populations. Understanding the pathogenesis of obesity and its metabolic sequelae has advanced rapidly over the past decades. Adipose tissue represents an active endocrine organ that, in addition to regulating fat mass and nutrient homeostasis, releases a large number of bioactive mediators (adipokines) that signal to...
متن کاملAdipokines and Hepatic Insulin Resistance
Obesity is a major risk factor for insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. Adipose tissue is now considered to be an active endocrine organ that secretes various adipokines such as adiponectin, leptin, resistin, tumour necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-6. Recent studies have shown that these factors might provide a molecular link between increased adiposity and impaired insulin sensitivity. Si...
متن کاملRelationship between adiponectin, obesity and insulin resistance.
OBJECTIVES the conditions of obesity and overweight pose a major risk for a number of comorbidities, including clinical syndromes resulting from atherosclerotic disease. Recent studies strongly indicate that adipose tissue is an active endocrine organ that secretes bioactive factors such as adipokines. Adiponectin appears to have a regulatory role in the mechanism of insulin resistance and in t...
